- He served as a Colonel of Volunteers throughout the civil war. He was brevetted to brigadier general when the war ended (for his services in it) in a wave of honorary mass promotions; he did not serve at that rank and not in the regular army either. ...GELongstreet (talk) 08:10, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
