Trivia

really? How the heck could a song entitled "Lord Elgin" be about Elgin watches? That is stupid, and probably incorrect. In England, nobility with titles are called Lords. WWII manufacturing stoppage?

We need a citation that shows that Elgin actually stopped production of their watches during WWII. I was recently given my grandfather's Elgin watch (grade 555) - which according to http://elginwatches.org/cgi-bin/elgin_grades was made between 1940 - 1955. Its possible they decreased their production of wristwatches. But during WWII, there was production of both wristwatches and pocket watches for the military. WWII was the last era of pocket watches. The United States, Canadian, and English Military all ordered pocket watches for uses by Naval forces. The WWII military-issue Watches had Special radium-coated hands to be able to see the time in low light or dark conditions. And Naval officers needed to be able to time ordnance detonation. Military-issue watches from all companies were a combination of regular 12-hour dial watches, and 60-second dial stop-watches MS, Dania fl 206.192.35.125 (talk) 12:59, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
