Stradbally location thing edit

OK, there's a bit of an edit war going on over the "Stradbally is NOT located in Dublin, as some artists' web sites have rather lazily suggested" thing.

Let's talk about it in here?

I think it should be removed, or at the very least reworded. Use capital letters for emphasis is definately against the Wikipedia Style Guide, and the "rather lazily" bit is just an opinion, and isn't encyclopedic. - PlazzTT 19:13, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

It is one editor that keeps on adding it. It's pointless, and I've removed it again. Stu ’Bout ye! 08:29, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
I see it is now back once again. It could be left but phrased more objectively and perhaps italics instead of capitals used? --Candlewicke Consortiums Limited 19:49, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Is the current incarnation acceptable? It seems a little more encyclopaedic. --Candlewicke Consortiums Limited 19:55, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Although it must be said that Electric Picnic is not the only Irish event to suffer this... Slane has had it, Oxegen is already kicking off in that direction again (Kasabian repeatedly shouted: "Come on Dublin!" in 2006), Hi:Fi Ireland last year in Belvedere... --Candlewicke Consortiums Limited 19:58, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
A little more acceptable. But still pointless I feel. If it can be sourced then some form of words would be ok, but it should be removed otherwise I think. Stu ’Bout ye! 08:47, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
I don't think it's a major issue that should be in the opening paragraph. The word "not" shouldn't be emphasized anyway, in my opinion. PlazzTT 21:05, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's happening again; the text repeatedly being inserted/reverted is pure POV polemic. --stephenw32768<user page><talk> 14:54, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've broken 3RR about 10 times over reverting it, but it's just pointless and unsourced. Stu ’Bout ye! 15:12, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's always anonymous users from the same IPs. Might this be solved by semi-protection? --stephenw32768<user page><talk> 15:26, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Guys - this is a fast moving content dispute, from all accounts here. Both of you are now on a final warning re. 3RR and the article is now fully protected. Can you *please* try to resolve this matter here, then get back to either myself or WP:RPP for unprotect when you've reached some agreement? Thanks - Alison 15:33, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's clear the IP has no intention of discussing the matter, his/her sole intent is to disrupt the article with unsourced material. It's been raised here and I've posted to their talk page. But I can't be bothered wasting my time on this, so it's off my watchlist. Stu ’Bout ye! 15:47, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

My two cents: the IP's paragraph is inappropriate for several reasons. It uses weasel words ("many international acts and media outlets", "many Irish music fans"); it cites no sources; it uses unacceptable POV language ("lazy and patronising cliche"). If it can be established that specific media outlets are mistakenly claiming that the festival is in Dublin, that should be stated plainly and in a NPOV fashion, e.g., "Publications such as the New York Times (ref) and BBC News (ref) have mistakenly stated that the festival takes place in Dublin." Further complicating the issue is that Googling "Electric Picnic Dublin" has given me the initial impression that Dublin does have its own smaller version of the festival: pages referring to "Electric Picnic Dublin" list acts that do not appear in this article. --Hyperbole 23:16, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ok - per consensus here and per Hyperbole's request on my talk page, I'm reducing to semi-protect. The anon editor (from Maynooth!) has remained largely unresponsive throughout all this & the disputed content is somewhat weasely - Alison 00:11, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Electric Picnic.jpg edit

Image:Electric Picnic.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:03, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
