Copyright edit

The first draft of this article has been copied from the Catholic Encyclopedia, published in 1917, the copyright of which has long expired. Rwflammang (talk) 02:37, 14 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Here is the original source. Rwflammang (talk) 02:40, 14 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

I have added the {{Catholic}} template (which causes MadmanBot to ignore a new article) and added http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/ to MadmanBot's whitelist. Thanks! — madman 02:56, 14 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Quote marks edit

Until we get around to actually making a distinction to real content added by Wikipedians and the content supplied by Catholic Encyclopedia, the addition of quote marks is just plain silly, not to mention misleading. As this article currently stands, it is the Catholic Encyclopedia article. And there's nothing wrong with that. Rwflammang (talk) 00:51, 15 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Tags edit

I have tagged the article for being entirely sourced from specifically Roman Catholic views on Election. We need to include Calvinist, Lutheran, and Arminian views as well — or either delete the article or make it a disambiguation page for Unconditional election and Conditional election. Thoughts? — Confession0791 talk 14:07, 23 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Both the unconditional and conditional election pages represent a purely inter-protestant theological distinction. Neither page represents the subject in Catholic, Orthodox, or indeed any pre-protestant thought. Rwflammang (talk) 01:48, 25 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
I think there is a place for a short article with lots of links. I think I'd rather it was called Elect (Christianity) though. Johnbod (talk) 02:33, 25 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Ok, then Catholic and Eastern Christian views should be represented as well. — Confession0791 talk 04:23, 25 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Merger discussion edit

I support the suggestion that this article and the article on the Doctrine of Election should be merged. Where is the current discussion on this topic? BobKilcoyne (talk) 04:54, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have (rather boldly) redirected the article here. StAnselm (talk) 06:38, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
