COI

edit

There's a clear WP:COI in this article, specifically in the part of the supposed "continuation" of the newspaper. Diego Grez Cañete (without the hyphen as he pretends) is the director of the "newspaper", and therefore neutrality couldn't be reached with self-promoting sentences like: "It defined itself as a "totally independent", "pluralistic" news source, "responding to the people's desire for accurate information". "This newspaper will always defend justice and truth, giving no importance to influences or pressures", said an article named ¡"El Marino" está de vuelta tras 97 años! ("'El Marino' is back after 97 years!")." Because of that, it would be good to read more opinions from users about that, because it's clearly a self-promoting section, with excessive details or false relevance. --Sfs90 (talk) 01:00, 25 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Update: Diego Grez simply republished text that was deleted several times after an ANI discussion because of their COI, and he's insisting about that, and even he's adding more self-promoting material, like adding to their description in the text as a student at University of Chile, something completely irrelevant. --Sfs90 (talk) 01:03, 25 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Please show me where the ANI thread got to any consensus about deleting content or anything, other than AndyTheGrump's concerns, which were addressed at the time. Stop making unnecessary drama. --Diego Grez-Cañete (talk) 01:07, 25 October 2015 (UTC) FWIW Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive864#Conflict_of_interest_in_regard_to_our_article_on_El_Marino.2C_a_1917_Chilean_newspaper. --Diego Grez-Cañete (talk) 01:09, 25 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
I pretend and it is my actual, legal name, with a hyphen, mister, for some months now. I disclosed long ago my relation to the newspaper. That's the only concern you could actually have, but I have complied with policy: see WP:DISCLOSE and WP:SELFCITE. Also, read WP:HARASS. This is borderline. :) --Diego Grez-Cañete (talk) 01:06, 25 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Anyways, if your trouble is that this is not a continuation of the older newspaper, go on and split it into another, El Marino (online newspaper), there are plenty of references that prove it passes WP:GNG. Diego Grez-Cañete (talk) 01:11, 25 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Well, you created the split before I could make it, so I have to congratulate you for your kindness :) You're a very useful user and you should be recognised with all of you contributions made here about your "newspaper" (?) Regards. --Sfs90 (talk) 01:22, 25 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much for your kindness and love :) Diego Grez-Cañete (talk) 01:31, 25 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 4 external links on El Marino. Please take a moment to review my edit. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
