I personally think that this article should be renamed to Al Alamayn to be consistent with other Egypt city articles eg. Al 'Arish, Al Mansurah, Al-Hibah. Maybe redirect from El Alamein? --FarQPwnsJoo 10:07, 24 July 2005 (UTC)

Cost of war

I largely reworded "Rows upon rows of gravestones stand witness to the folly of humanity fighting and dying for a worthless strip of desert, thousands of miles away from their homelands." because I don't think it was folly to end Axis agression in WWII. Rlevse 17:28, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

Name Meaning

Means "the two flags", named long before the war and has no signficance to two seperate forces fighting in the region. Mooodi (talk) 15:52, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

History

Before the section on Tourism, there should be some history about thw city/town. I'm sure there must be some relevant history about this town prior to world War II. For example, the section on the War Museum mentions "the 'civil war'." What civil war?

Either before or after the History section - perhaps at the end - there should be some information about the modern status of El Alamein - something beyond its population and climate. An earlier edit in the history of this article mentioned that it now primarily serves as a port for oil exportation. Is this true?

There must be more to this place than cemetery tourism. Unfortunately I don't know much about it; that's why I am here. I was trying to find out why it is named "two flags."
