Can anyone cite a source in which Edwards is quoted as saying the bit about the dead girl or live boy? Any quotation so profound, with such a propensity to become legendary, ought to be verified now while it still can be. 128.208.36.85 02:35, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

12/1/05 - added to text more info on 1987 governor's race = A. Countis

4/16/06 - Someone may want to add in that Edwards and "six associates" were indicted by a Federal grand jury "on charges that they conspired to use the Governor's influence to obtain hospital certificates and sell them for $10 million in profit." (from the New York Times March 10, 1985). I don't know what became of the indictment however.

11/20/2006 It would certainly be nice to have more information on what he did as a governor. Everything here is primarily the campaigns, elections, and indictments. But, that may say it all... Mebobbob 15:14, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Vidrine

The part about Vidrine seems to imply that Edwards had him killed on the courtroom steps, when the actual Vidrine article explains that he was killed doing bodyguard related stuff. Corruption

Bill Watts, in his autobiography, makes very specific claims related to corruption and bribery during the time that Edwards was governor and Watts was the sole promoter of professional wrestling in Louisiana (as franchised by the state's athletic commission), more or less brushing it off as "the cost of doing business in Louisiana". Watts also mentions political dealings with Peppi Bruneau and his father over many years, describing them more or less as rare instances of Louisiana politicians of honesty and integrity. Seeing as how this article is dominated by accounts of corruption, would the use of this source be a good or bad thing? RadioKAOS  – Talk to me, Billy 04:59, 28 September 2013 (UTC)

Citations needed

This looks like many statements could use citations. I left one request at the indictment following the bribe attempt by one of the notorious Graham brothers, for-profit prison promoters from Houston, Texas. I read that in the book, "Bad News on the Bayou," and other places. However, the taped bribe attempt was not prosecuted because the Grahams would have been poor witnesses, given their own history. The prosecutor nailed Edwards instead after he got a bribe from Eddie DeBartolo, Jr., the owner of the San Francisco 49ers, passed to him in a suitcase in Burlingame, California, if memory serves. He served four terms, not three

1972-1980 is two consecutive terms. That is the terminology used everywhere (for instance "no third term" as applied to any President who has served eight years which has NEVER been counted as "one term", and descriptions of FDR as the only President to serve more than two terms even though he had only ONE set of consecutive years during which he was President), and this article is not even consistent with itself because the lead paragraph says 1972 to 1980 was one of three terms, while the Table of Contents for this article lists 1975 to 1980 as his second term and lists four terms overall.
