Infobox photo (monarchical standards) edit

The infobox photo for most monarchs (at least British/Commonwealth monarchs) shows the monarch in some kind of regalia that is specific to the monarch. This is the case, for example, of George V, George VI, and, now, Elizabeth II.

This picture of Edward VII, on the other hand, looks like that of, say, an elective political figure of the age. (Or, put another way, it is more in the style of the picture for Elizabeth II that had been used until recently.)

French Wikipedia uses this picture of Edward VII as its infobox picture for him: <https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89douard_VII#/media/Fichier:King_Edward_VII_by_Sir_(Samuel)_Luke_Fildes.jpg> I would suggest that, or something similar. Something in the spirit of the pictures for George V, George VI, and Elizabeth II, at any rate. Toadmore (talk) 02:10, 14 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

This picture is not as high quality as the current photos, but this picture was taken when he was king

Agree, the Fields portrait was the infobox image until a few years ago when someone changed it for some reason. I think that the infobox picture of a person should tell as much as possible about him/her (ex. a painter at the easel, a writer at their desk, etc.) FilBenLeafBoy (Let's Talk!) 13:50, 26 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Disagree, the present king (Charles III) uses a similar style of portrait. The previous photograph is very high quality, unlike its blurry replacement. Tim O'Doherty (talk) 22:36, 15 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
The King’s portrait is likely to change in due course due to it being a photo from his years as Prince of Wales. Furthermore, he has been king for a short time so there aren’t yet any official portraits of him as king or in any regalia or uniform. All other monarchs are presented in some form of regalia or uniform and I think Edward VII’s portrait should follow. I think the previous image was much better and more accurately reflected his position. AKTC3 (talk) 08:44, 22 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
But it's lower resolution and worse contrast. The image in the introduction should be a high quality one. Celia Homeford (talk) 09:20, 22 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
We could just do a painting. Mitch199811 (talk) 04:19, 27 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Paintings are not as accurate as photographs, which is why the latter are usually preferred. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 11:51, 5 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Is there any way to further process this photo (?

"The Edwardian era, which covered Edward's reign and was named after him, coincided with the start of a new century and heralded significant changes in technology and society, including steam turbine propulsion and the rise of socialism" edit

Is this in the body? I can't find it. If not, 'tis uncited. Tim O'Doherty (talk) 16:08, 7 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

I'm inclined to cut it. It's too long ago for me to remember the details of why I might have written that. DrKay (talk) 21:49, 7 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
I think it's useful, would just reword it in the body and add a ref. Anywhere you know of that could give us a decent citation? Tim O'Doherty (talk) 23:25, 7 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
