Immigrate?

'in 1929 Davies immigrated to the United States' - am I being overly sensitive in feeling that the verb here reflects a purely American standpoint, in that 'immigrate' usually has the sense of 'come to live in a country' implying here the viewpoint of someone in the US? Time machine?

"... in 1946 Davies co-founded a maker of heavy equipment for marine use, Jered Industries. Jered helped to engineer the landing crafts used for the D-Day invasion of Normandy."

How could Jered Industries help engineer landing craft for D-Day when the company wasn't founded until after the end of WWII? Tempusmaster (talk) 02:47, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.

The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.

Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 16:59, 23 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Baptism/Unbaptism edit

This article currently mentions Bill Maher's 2012 "unbaptism" of Davies without mentioning the fact that it was in response to him being baptised by Romney's family after his death. See [1] I was going to add this fact to the article, but I see it has been removed in the past, most recently by Rnitz in May 2014. I agree with the sentiment in the edit summary, namely:

Frankly, this religious event that occurred after his death, is of no relevance to his life and detracts from his significant industrial accomplishments.

The Maher action makes no sense without the prior story, so I will delete the Maher mention also. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 01:58, 29 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Athomeinkobe:, @Rnitz:, @Willypete42: The baptism section was recently expanded by Willypete42. This addition deals with events done by people other than himself and it detracts from his own accomplishments. Suggest that the changes be removed, or moved to Ann Romney's page. --Closms (talk) 22:55, 24 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
