Excellent article on Laurillard, an important but not notably well chronicled backroom boy. I'm a bit doubtful that Maeterlinck wrote libretti for the admirable Armstrong Gibbs. MM wrote only in French, as far as I know, and was in any case a bit on the heavily symbolist side, not strong on rolling 'em in the aisles. Perfectly prepared to be told I'm wrong however. - Later - I think perhaps AG wrote incidental music for a play (in translation I presume) of Maeterlinck's staged by Laurillard. The Wikipedia article on AG mentions "The Betrothal, incidental music for a play by Maurice Maeterlinck, 1921". Sorry to drag kippers across the path. Tim riley 23:18, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
