More Edits! edit

Hello, I am working with the below user on this article for class. I have added some information on the start of his astrological photography work, added info on Pickering's harem and added information on his death and legacy. I also edited minor things such as adding a photo, fixed some citation clutter, and added hyperlinks where appropriate. Finally, I deleted a citation "Book of Members, 1780–2010: Chapter P" (PDF). American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Retrieved 7 April 2011." This citation was associated with his membership as a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The link was no longer available. SRMcGarvey (talk) 03:54, 14 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Proposed Changes edit

Hello all, I am working on this page for a class, so I will be adding some info in Early Life, career, and I am going to separate a section for Pickering's Harem. COeditor1 (talk) 17:13, 6 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

"Feminist" edit

One of the worlds most important early male feminists, I believe. Said: Rursus () 08:03, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Alas, his feminism is compromised: my understanding is that he hired the women because they would work for less. Still, given the times, I suppose it's commendable that he hired women at all. Slgillett (talk) 22:00, 19 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Not an AAVSO co-founder edit

Recent (2011) research by the AAVSOs own historian has revealed that Pickerings role in founding the AAVSO was inflated/misrepresented as early as in 1919, and that in fact, Pickering cannot be regarded as a co-founder of the association[1]. I therefore removed this statement from the article.

Bachelor of love edit

Saying that he received a Bachelor of love seems to disagree with citation 3.

Funny Business edit

Yes, a "bachelor of love" ... read the source material, this is clearly vandalism. The school's mentioned are some Australian schools, how much you wanna bet the IP for the edits are from there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:301F:1600:BE00:D275:B852:2311:DCB9 (talk) 08:51, 22 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
