Czech or Czech/Russian? edit

I understand Nápravník was born in Bohemia and then moved to Russia. Wouldn't a sentence like "a Czech composer with influence on Russian music life" be better than "Czech/Russian composer"? For example, Antonín Dvořák is presented here as a Czech, not Czech/American. -- Sandius 08:30, 17 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

The principal venue of both the Imperial Opera and Ballet was the St. Petersburg Imperial Bolshoi Kamenny Theatre until 1886. Afterward it was the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre.

Tsar Alexander III abolished the Imperial Italian Opera in 1884, which was lead by Riccardo Drigo from 1878-1884.

The Tsar then formed the Imperial Russian Opera, for which Eduard Nápravník was kapellmeister.

After that Drigo took the helm as principal conductor of both the ballet and opera at the Bolshoi Kamenny Theatre (1884-1886), and then the Mariinsky, a post which he filled until 1919.

Nápravník was the lead conductor for Russian Operas.
