Talk:Edit conflict

Unclear edit

There have been cases with me and a few others reverting or revising articles, and there being no notice of someone else doing it even seconds before. It's probably an error, but, how exactly would it fall into this?

Bias edit

The article reads as if this is a concept that only applies to wikis (with a single note at the end suggesting otherwise). It's a far wider concept, evidenced in part by there being a dedicated HTTP status code (409) designed long before wikis were invented. Revision control systems, content management systems and no-SQL databases all can exhibit the concept of an Edit Conflict. OrangeDog (τ • ε) 17:59, 20 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

But are those types of conflict actually called "edit conflicts" in the sources that deal with them?--Kotniski (talk) 18:27, 20 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Comparing edit-conflicts to merge-conflicts in version control edit

Perhaps a section should be added to the article to compare the problem of edit-conflicts with merge-conflicts in version control systems, to explain the similarities. -Wikid77 (talk) 23:55, 15 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Tools to auto-correct edit-conflicts edit

(edit conflict) Text should be added to describe tools, or various techniques, to auto-correct edit-conflicts. -Wikid77 (talk) 23:58/00:04, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

More sources edit

I think there are more books now which describe edit-conflicts. -Wikid77 (talk) 23:58, 15 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Reducing edit-conflicts by splitting lines edit

The article could explain the tactic of splitting lines, into 3 or more parts, to reduce edit-conflicts with nearby lines. -Wikid77 00:03, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • This tactic of splitting lines into 3 parts will require sources. -Wikid77 03:54, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

How often edit-conflicts occur edit

Edit-conflicts occur many times per day, but an average daily count would be valuable. -Wikid77 (talk) 04:48, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Another aspect, to include, is how often various edit-conflicts occur. -Wikid77 00:09, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Plus note major types of pages (such as current-events pages) where edit-conflicts have occurred most often. -Wikid77b (talk) 04:39/05:21, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
