The result was merge as detailed below. -- EmbraBloke (talk) 16:46, 1 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm proposing that the existing articles on the Perrier Comedy Award and the if.comedy award should be merged into a single article. While the award changed name when it changed sponsor, that's really all that changed - it's (broadly) the same judging structure, eligibility criteria, and so on.

Although the current Perrier Awards article has more content, I think it should be merged into the current if.comedies article, so the resulting article has the current name.

At the same time, I'm proposing that the lists of award winners and nominees from each of the two articles should be moved out of these articles, and merged into the existing List of Perrier award winners. There is considerable duplication between these articles, so some merging should happen; and I suggest it's better for the "list" article to be separate, to avoid it distracting from information about the award itself. I propose the "list" article be renamed to "List of if.comedy and Perrier Comedy Award winners" (which is a bit of a mouthful, but all I can come up with).

Any comments? If not (this seems a fairly quiet article), I'll go ahead in a week or two. I'd also like to add a bit more detail on the awards, but want to sort out the structure first. -- EmbraBloke (talk) 18:35, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I support the merge. The if.comedy award is not a different award that replaced the Perrier Comedy Award; but the same award with a new name. The lists tend to get in the way of the rest of the article content, so I support removing those, as well. -- Dancter (talk) 20:09, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re-inclusion of list edit

I would suggest that the list of previous award winners be re-included in this article. While I recognise the point previously made that separation lends cleanliness, at the same time I would argue that the primary reason for most people to visit the article on the Edinburgh Comedy Awards is at least in part to see a list of past winners, given that the award derives it's notability from the fact that a large number of noteworthy comedians have won the award since its inception. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AllTheGoodNames (talkcontribs) 10:38, 4 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
