I'm making an attempt to organise the content on this page a little better. This page also needs more references, the only one it has right now links to a webpage with a brief summary of the paper... Quigabyte 03:29, 28 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Overdependence on Caribbean hermit crabs edit

This article seems to over depend on the Caribbean hermit crab, making excessive comparisons to the Caribbean hermit crab. Can someone try fixing this? Ashfire908 14:06, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree but the Caribbean is for many the only other point of reference for most people. It's accurate to state that the Ecuadorian is by and large the only other widely available land hermit in the pet trade, so I think that comparisons between the two aren't really terrible form. Not great form, but not terrible, either. I added the fact that Ecuadorians are quite active compared to Caribbeans. I've actually done the metrics on this for over a month, and they are at least 50% more active than Caribbeans, so I think it's a valid and somewhat scientific statement. I also put the term "purple pincher" in quotes, because while it's an accurate descriptor to use -- they Caribbean is called a purple pincher or Purple Pincher in many places, verbally and in print, it's not a proper species name, so it really should be in quotes should not be followed by the word species. I placed the species name behind in in parentheses so readers would know that "purple pincher" refers not to compressus but to clypeatus. 38.165.15.201 (talk) 20:14, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
