Closed merger proposal

This article has had a tag since Mar 14 suggesting that Ectomycorrhizal extramatrical mycelium be merged with this article, pointing to a discussion on this page. However, there is no discussion here. On the face of it (and I am not an expert in the subject) the suggestion does not have my support: Ectomycorrhizal extramatrical mycelium seems to be a well-sourced stand-alone article that would make Ectomycorrhiza too unwieldy if merged. I am therefore removing the merge tags from both pages. Another editor could at any time propose the merger again, using the procedure at WP:MERGE. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 10:35, 25 February 2017 (UTC)

Notes on copy edit completed July 16 2019

Some sections of this article appear to have been cut and pasted from a book or long review article. There were multiple references to non-existent numbered sections. At least partly for this reason, there were several violations of WP:NOR. The article still depends heavily on primary sources, but I have removed (as best I can) strong conclusions based on an individual's reading of the primary literature.

The article would benefit from attention from an expert. It lacks references later than 2014, except one recent reference I added, and many of the statements made may be out of date. Logophile59 (talk) 23:56, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

Please note that the two references for "tend to reduce soil Carbon" and "rending their use controversial", specifically refer to exotic pine plantations on existing pasture land (as differentiated from e.g. native plantations on intensive tillage land, or spruce in Sweden); "Growth and carbon sequestration by ectomycorrhizal fungi in intensively fertilized Norway spruce forests" - https://doi.org/10.1016/j.foreco.2011.05.035 - by contrast demonstrates an addition of "between 300 and 1100 kg C per ha" with Ectomycorrhizal fungi, in Norway Spruce plantations of Sweden. 2A01:B340:65:5B84:DC9D:1E79:58A6:CBD2 (talk) 16:45, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
