I clicked on a link to CIA world factbook, and it appears the first paragraph is plagarized from that site. How come Wikipedia let that happen? 64.4.236.54 20:04, 6 December 2006 (UTC)SomeoneReply

The CIA factbook is published by the federal government and is therefore in the open domain and not copyrighted. It's referenced in the article, so it's not really plagarism. --Hatch68 20:06, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have today basically rewritten the article without changing any of the content, so that it now reads as if written by a native English speaker. The previous version was clearly written by a non-Anglophone author (probably a Paraguayan national). I trust nobody will take offense at this.Godingo (talk) 17:09, 28 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Tourism in Paraguay

edit

The article about tourism in Paraguay needs to be updated with new information and also be expanded. For example, where the articles says that the gains in tourism have come from business, it would be good to see examples of a few types of businesses. Also,it would be more interesting to see how tourism has evolved over the years and what are the main activities of it. Besides, the part when the article mentions about the traffic of illegal goods and items is not very specific and makes the country look very bad for other readers. update needed

Most of the statistics given are from over ten years ago. I came to this article to find out about the alleged economic boom in the country ("It would have been all too easy for foreigners visiting Paraguay at the turn of the 21st century to dismiss the landlocked country as little more than a languid backwater.... If they were to return for the first time now, they would hardly recognise the place. [Changes in the infrastructure are] testament to national rates of economic growth that are the envy of the rest of Latin America" [1]; "Thanks to its sound and predictable macroeconomic bases; solid financial system; poverty reduction and other policies, Paraguay has seen an extraordinary growth in the past few years, paving the way to economic success with social inclusion." [2], but found nothing about it. Kdammers (talk) 01:00, 10 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
