Eberhard Faber GmbH and Faber Castell have no (direct) connection. It is probably coincidence that both share the name Faber and both produce pencils. However, it could be possible that the founders of Eberhard Faber GmbH, the brothers Eberhard Johann Faber and Lothar Faber, originated from the same Faber family. Eberhard Faber GmbH was founded in 1922.

There was however a Eberhard Faber, brother of Lothar von Faber, then owner of what now is "Faber Castell". This Eberhard Faber settled in the US in 1849 to build up the US business, which eventually under his son became Eberhard Faber Pencil Co. in 1898.
