Would support merge with East London Line - this current article is short, and it would make sense to have one article that can adapted as it moves from the Underground to the Overground. East London Railway can be a redirect -when it changes name to EL Railway, obviously reverse would need to happen (EL Line redirect to EL Railway)Surfermoon 10:10, 16 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

The article has now been reduced to showing clearly how 2 kinds of ELR, one of ELl and an erroneous ELL differ.--SilasW (talk) 18:39, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

It seems to be that TfL are no longer (probably for a couple of years) using the phrase "East London Railway" to refer to the extended railway but rather "East London line". If they do re-adopt a formal designation of "East London line", then maybe (just a suggestion) there should be separate articles for:
  • East London line disambiguation page
  • East London Line (London Overground era)
  • East London line (London Underground era)
  • East London Railway disambiguation page - this one
  • East London Railway (Metropolitan era)
    • I believe, but no longer have ready access to the source to confirm it, that the Metropolitan Railway Company actually took ownership or at least full control of the line pre-LPTB days, which is how it came under the control of the LPTB
  • East London Railway Company - the early history
