Not sure how much creditability there is in the last paragraph. ETA movements are used in high-end watchs, such as Omega, Breitling, etc...ETA. In fact, being that Omega is owned by Swatch as well as ETA...stands to reason that they would use ETA movement.

Just an odd commentary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.104.118.90 (talkcontribs) 22:06, 30 October 2006

REPLY:

Actually many non Swatch brands use ETA 2892.A2 movements (and 775X movements) in their high end watches. Bretiling is one, but if you look at the following link, you will find many. http://www.orbita.net/pages/17101.htm —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimr18 (talkcontribs) 18:29, 18 March 2007

Elegance, Technology and Accuracy

edit

ETA does not stand for "Elegance, Technology and Accuracy" or anything else, I have therefore removed the reference.202.131.190.96 (talk) 00:13, 13 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

You may be correct but if you go here: http://www.eta.ch/ and allow the "flash" to play you may be surprized. Luger229 (talk) 23:38, 14 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:ETA.SA Logo.JPG

edit

Image:ETA.SA Logo.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Moved for discussion: Brands using ETA movements

edit

This list, with a single, poor source, is a magnet for promotion. Without proper sourcing by independent, reliable sources, I've moved it here. The one reference appears to be from a promotional piece for IWC. --Ronz (talk) 17:56, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Mechanical ETA movements are commonly used in many "mid-range" brands such as Bulova, Hamilton, Markus Ruby, Mido, Oris, Fortis, Tissot and Certina, and also in many "high-end" watch brands such as Breitling, IWC, Longines, Officine Panerai, TAG Heuer, Omega, Porsche Design, Rado among others. ETA's Quartz Movement lines are used in both "high-end" quartz brands as well as more affordable brands, such as Calvin Klein, flik-flak, Swatch and Swiss Army among others. At the very least, the ETA movements usually carry the watch brands' name on the automatic rotor or otherwise on the top plate if the watch is a manual-wind movement. The more prestigious brands such as Omega and IWC undertake significant modifications of the basic ETA movement. The numerous modifications and the great care taken completely transform the original, mass-produced movement by ETA into something new. [1]
