The result of the move request was: Page moved. Aside from one oppose that is argued entirely invalidly (maybe AI output), this is a clear cut case. -- ferret (talk) 16:35, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

EA FC 24EA Sports FC 24 – More official name, as mentioned above. 2001:448A:2061:1BE6:B939:ECF8:329D:DC29 (talk) 14:23, 18 July 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. ModernDayTrilobite (talkcontribs) 14:34, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Disagree Am against remaining the article cause.
  1. Consistency with Cover: The title "EA FC" should be used on Wikipedia because it aligns with the information presented on the cover. When a company chooses a name or title for its product, it is usually the most accurate and official representation of that product. In this case, the cover of the game shows "EA FC," which suggests that it's the preferred and endorsed title by the company itself.
  2. Brand Recognition: "EA FC 24" has been consistently used on the cover and likely throughout the marketing materials for the game. Over time, players and fans of the game will come to recognize it by this title. Using "EA FC 24" on the Wikipedia article will enhance brand recognition and avoid potential confusion among the gaming community.
  3. Brevity and Clarity: "EA FC 24" is a shorter and more concise title compared to "EA Sports FC 24." Wikipedia titles are generally preferred to be succinct while conveying the most important information. Shorter titles are easier to remember and search for, making it more user-friendly for readers seeking information about the game.
  4. Citation of Sources: The Wikipedia article should aim to reflect accurate information and be supported by reliable sources. Since "EA FC 24" is the title displayed on the cover and promotional materials, this can be easily cited with references to official EA Sports publications or media sources that have covered the game.
  5. Avoiding Speculation: Wikipedia aims to present factual information rather than speculation. While "EA Sports FC 24" might be a potential name, "EA FC 24" is the verifiable and officially recognized title as seen on the cover. As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia should prioritize verifiable facts.

@Icem4k Could you... clarify for points 1 and 2? The cover image on this page says "EA Sports FC 24". The 4-5 sources in use that are direct EA press releases also say "EA Sports FC 24". Point #3 doesn't matter. Point #4 seems invalid, because of 10 sources, 8 use "EA Sports FC 24" in their title. Point 5 seems completely misplaced, given all the primary sourcing and the existing cover. Everything about your argument seems to contradict the sourcing. -- ferret (talk) 14:50, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
With respect to Icem4k, I'm inclined to say that the text as presented was written by ChatGPT. It reads as though it was written by the AI as educational material. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 18:59, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Support Per my response above to Icem4k. The cover says "EA Sports FC 24". All the EA press releases say "EA Sports FC 24". Of 10 sources currently in use, 8 says "EA Sports FC 24". The only source saying "EA FC 24" are sources 1 and 2, by the same author from The Mirror. -- ferret (talk) 14:57, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per Ferret's breakdown above. I share his confusion with many of the opposing arguments as well. How are we "avoiding speculation" by using using a name not on the cover? Sergecross73 msg me 15:02, 28 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Support the official name is EA Sports FC 24. It could potentially be shortened to "FC 24", (FIFA 23's official name was EA Sports FIFA 23), however the vast majority of sources refer to the game as EA Sports FC 24. Joyconn (talk) 02:15, 29 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Support Per Ferret and others, as it appears to be the WP:COMMONNAME. Additionally, using ChatGPT to sound authoritative is reckless, as it commonly presents lies and nonsense as fact. That sort of thing should really be banned from talk page discussion for its potential to mislead and falsify information. If one can't form a cogent argument with their own words, I would not trust that they understood the policies behind their argument. Using an AI to help you form an argument is quite different than copy+pasting its raw output in the hopes it said something intelligible, which is simply spam. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 13:02, 29 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Zxcvbnm Oh is that what it was. The argument was literally reversed. -- ferret (talk) 12:57, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Can we add the standard cover with just Haaland instead ? edit

It's a lot better imho. The Optimistic One (talk) 17:42, 28 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

There would be two reasons to include it, as a non-free image. The first way would be as a necessary visual identifier in the infobox, but since there is a free-to-use brand image, it is not possible to claim a cover image is necessary (and therefore it would not be fair use). The second way would be if there was sufficient article body text discussing the cover to warrant visual representation. This doesn't exist.
In short, no. Kingsif (talk) 21:04, 9 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Age Ratings edit

Is it just me or might this be the first game in the entire series to not globally get the Lowest Age rating (specifically it got a USK 12 in Germany)? A while ago I checked as many Age rating agencies as I could at least for this game (8 in total, USK [Germany], PEGI [Europe], CERO [Japan], ESRB [USA], ACB [Australia], SMECCV [Mexico], Classificação Indicativa [Brazil], GRAC [South Korea]) and basically all of them had the game at their Lowest Rating, which is something like Everyone/General for most, and 3+ for Pegi. (additionally at least some agencies I checked even in the past had FIFA on their lowest rating, so I think this might be true, but I do not have anything conclusive yet, especially as not all age rating agencies have online lookup.

And if so, would this be notable enough to add to the article? As I would think this could be the start of something more major in the future, as there has been both smaller and bigger pushback against "paid random items". like some countries even outright banning the practice, like Belgium and The Netherlands, but in the wider scope not much happened, aside from that.

Someone always has to take the first step somewhere and I think this might be the first one for the rating agencies. My1 (talk) 13:35, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

If a newspaper or similar was to write a report on the age ratings and how it might change the video game gambling atmosphere, then we could include it. As it stands, this is just your WP:OR and can't be added. Kingsif (talk) 20:52, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
