Removed text: The name Dyfodwg originates from the ancient parish situated at the head of the Rhondda Valley in , with a history of no less than 1300 years. Tradition produces the name Dyfodwg as its founder (500/600 AD). History gives the saint the reputation of a great evangelist and preacher. During a persecution of the Church he was punished by having his tongue cut out, thus preventing him from spreading the words of the Gospel.

- it should be restored if adequate references can be found.
