McBride leaving New School
editThe Trustees have just announced that McBride is leaving New School at the end of the summer. Am I right in thinking that the trustee's email is not source enough at the moment?
"Dear Members of our New School Community,
I write to share the news that President Dwight A. McBride has decided to move on from his history-making role as President of The New School. He will conclude his service this summer, when he will take on a new role at another university as an endowed professor focusing on scholarship and research, and serve as a Senior Advisor to the Chancellor.
President McBride is a champion of excellence in scholarship and creative practice. His warmth and creativity, progressive intellectual exploration and abiding belief in the transformational power of education are the embodiment of our university’s values.
The New School is deeply indebted to President McBride for his leadership through unprecedented times and unparalleled challenges. His many contributions include articulating the Framework for Fearless Progress and shepherding The New School through the COVID-19 pandemic. President McBride has also been the driving force behind shaping The New School’s ongoing focus on equity, inclusion and social justice.
“I am humbled by this marvelous university and the challenges we’ve overcome together; rising to the occasion each and every time. It is through these moments we faced together as a community that helped us emerge an even stronger, more inclusive, and better version of The New School. Despite the relentless attacks on higher education and our values, I take great pride in being able to witness firsthand our influence throughout New York City and beyond. While I leave you all, I have no doubt that The New School community will continue to rise and meet its limitless ambition for the future,” President McBride said.
It is with immense gratitude, admiration, and pride that The New School recognizes President McBride’s many contributions. While another institution’s gain is our loss, he will remain a valued member of this community, and the path he paved will always be part of our road forward.
A small committee composed of Trustees, including our Faculty Trustee and a staff representative, has now begun our search for an Interim President. This leader will be pivotal in laying the groundwork for a permanent president who will propel The New School into the future. In the coming months, we will have more to share about the comprehensive process of selecting our next president.
With appreciation,
Linda E. Rappaport Chair, Board of Trustees " ABS (talk) 18:53, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
