Removed material

The following material has been removed, as not compatible with WP:NOT and WP:MOSDAB. Disambiguation pages are lists of links to articles, and should not provide any information themselves other than that needed to guide the reader to the correct article. In particular, mere dictionary definitions are not acceptable, nor are entries for things like restaurants that are not notable enough to have their own Wikipedia article. • One may exclaim "Dutch oven!" after farting in bed and pulling the bedclothes over their bed-mate's head.
• "The Dutch Oven" was a restaurant of long standing in the Downtown of Seattle, Washington, now since closed.

I suspect the only way vandals will stop adding it to the page is when someone actually writes an encyclopedia article about the fart joke (including regional variations, where and when it originated, appropriate audiences, perhaps a diagram, and the all-important “uses in popular culture” section), at which point it would no longer be considered vandalism. If you want to write an encyclopedic article about it, go ahead. (I’ve outlined above what such an encyclopedia article should include.) Until you do, there’s nowhere for the disambiguation page to link to, except for Wiktionary, which already has the fart definition. Removed marajuana and fart defns.

Ok, we've been here before. If the fart defn and the pot defn are removed, people will be perpetually adding them to the cookware page. Yes, there aren't entire articles on these definitions, but lots of other disambiguation links go to paragraphs within a larger page ("strainer" links to an article on river rafting, for example). If the fart page or the practical jokes page doesn't already have a mention of dutch oven, that can be easily fixed. FiveRings 17:50, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

This is likely a problem with other disambiguation pages. While I am still newbie with Wikipedia contributions, I expect there'd be some guideline on how and when Wikipedia entries should be generated with respect to Wiktionary entries. For example, I don't expect there to be a Wikipedia article for each Wiktionary definition.

But, given that there is no Wikipedia article on the practical joke (etc.), but that Wiktionary covers it in the definition, it seems that the disambiguation pages, in general, should take care of this. In this case, the Wiktionary banner link is off to the side and, to me, is easily dismissed as decorative fluff or advertisement. The general disambiguation format should consider moving related Wikimedia project banner links to be directly under and in line with the other Wikipedia articles. Else, for special cases where the alternate definitions need to be more prominent, then we should make one of the disambiguation bullet points link directly to the Wiktionary definition. --Anonyhole (talk) 23:19, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
