Cleanup

• Wouldn't "Dutch novelists" be a better title. This would keep it more in line with corresponding articles of other languages. Moreover, there would be no need for the somewhat awkward explanation for literature Pethan 09:36, 30 Jul 2004 (UTC)

• This article is called "Dutch literature". It is, however, nothing more than a list of Dutch authors. Needs either cleanup to become a real article or alternatively a rename to "List of Dutch authors" (or something similar). --Plek 12:02, 27 Jan 2005 (UTC)

After long deliberation (mostly because of the time involved) I've decided to write this article bit by bit. Editing 1911 material

As you can see, I've started to copy-edit and wikify the 1911 raw source material that user:RustySpear included, aiming to remove the cleanup tag once editing is complete. Any help, though, is appreciated! Curt Woyte 15:04, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

Van Veldeke

User:Markussep rightly states that Van Veldeke was from Hasselt in Loon county, not the Duchy of Limburg. But to change the wiki link from "Duchy of Limburg" to "Limburg" (to which Hasselt currently belongs) is anachronistic, so I removed the link altogether. Curt Woyte 12:04, May 4, 2005 (UTC)

Long

This article is looooong. Wouldn't it be better to provide a short summary here and link to separate articles about "Medieval Dutch Literature", "Renaissance Dutch Literature", etc.? - user:213.84.239.37

Thanks for your concern. In fact, shortening the article is what's being done right now. User:RustySpear provided us with a load of 1911 Britannica information and it is currently being sifted through for relevancy. My rough estimate is that the article will shrink with another 35% or so after 1911 NPOV hyperbole and wordiness are trimmed off; when we're done doing that I think it will be a good moment to see whether the subsections need separate articles. - Curt Woyte 17:43, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

I've given it some thought and agree with you that (almost) finished sections such as Earliest Stages and Renaissance/Golden Age are long even in their trimmed-down versions. I'll start moving them to separate subpages (whenever my schedule allows). - Curt Woyte 08:29, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

There's a name I miss when reading the medieval part. Also some titles (Karel ende Elegast, Mariken van Nimwegen) would be in order.

Flemish literature

As I am working on creating articles about 19th century Flemish writers, it becomes clear that the development of literature in the Netherlands and Flanders was quite different. I propose to keep the article on Flemish literature a separate article. Pvosta 19:32, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

There some stylish differences between Dutch and Flemish literature, I dont think those (or the amount of 19th century Dutch literature in Belgium) is enough for a separate article.Rex 20:26, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
