Irish name & other queries
editA query from an ignoramus: the infobox and text give the Irish name as "Dún Leamhán", but the pic of the town sign says "Dun Luain". Why the difference? Is this a common situation? When editing a while back, I found no info regarding the CoI church; it's a prominent building - can anyone fill this gap? Also, I understand a local resident used to play rugby for Ireland and was called up for the Lions (but couldn't go) - again couldn't locate confirmation. - I suggest initially referring to Place names in Irish and also some of the comment made about changed names on the talk page. There are a few useful links to both statutes and government web sites that explain in part some of the names issue. Basically you will often find conflicting names used for Irish towns depending on which legislation is being followed. I will look up my ref and come back later. Right now the statutes website is down. Closed for Christmas? Cheers ww2censor (talk) 01:54, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
