Comment

A "my first article" page. Mostly on account of looking for information on DUNS in Wikipedia and finding none. So I doc'd the parent company.

The information here is pretty generic. I've got a background in data analysis, and some experience with stock/financial information, but I haven't worked with DUNS specifically or other D&B data much.

Fixes/additions welcomed.

D & B Number

  • Dun and Bradstreet Number
  • Dunn and Bradstreet Number
  • D&B Number
  • D & B Number

I was looking up "D & B Number" and couldn't find it. In case anyone else only knows "D & B Number" may this result in a search.

Separate page for DUNS

Would anyone ojbect to creating a separate page for DUNS numbers? I am doing some research in how these are used, and I don't think it's necessarily appropriate to put all this information in the Dun & Bradstreet page (since D&B provide lots of other services besides DUNS). copyvios on this page?

the beginning paragraph reads like an ad, and actually it seems to have been ripped from D&B's page at http://www.dnb.com/US/about/index.html . Their terms of usa say "No part of the D&B Site may be reproduced, modified, or distributed in any form or manner without the prior written permission of D&B." so I don't think we have the right to do this. Also, the history page of the article seems to have copied the section titles and lots of other things from http://www.dnb.com/us/about/company_story/dnbhistory.html. ouch.

Since lots of stuff was apparently copied without permission from the company's site, I reverted the article and added it to the listing. I believe the user at 204.254.175.249 is trolling. (see their other contributions)

Methods

If anyone could write a word about D & B methods to get the secret information they get, I'd be interessed in it. The French competitor Kompass' web site explains a bit how they got the information, but I could see nothing like that on D & B's web site. --Henri de Solages 14:54, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

size of database?

The Operation section says "Dun & Bradstreet maintains a database of over 200 million companies globally". However the cited reference says "Our global commercial database contains more than 150 million business records". Possibly they are talking about two different things, but perhaps our article is wrong. Have I missed something in the ref? Mitch Ames (talk) 11:32, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

In the absence of any feedback here, I've changed both (lead and operation sections) instances of 200 million to 150 million. Mitch Ames (talk) 12:22, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Article bias

The article as it currently reads sounds quite biased against the company. It would be nice to see D&B's response to the allegations. Also, a rewrite is needed as some phrasing (e.g. "its unethical business practices" instead of "alleged unethical business practices") uses patently biased terminology. 24.118.76.70 (talk) 04:11, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
