This article could be expanded, and it definitely needs more sources and citations. very interesting, though. I re-did the map in the side panel because I couldn't see which region was Aquitaine in the original. Richard asr (talk) 16:31, 26 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Surface Area edit

What's the surface area of the Duchy of Aquitaine, using this map, in 1154 (in km2/mi2)?137.254.4.5 (talk) 19:14, 9 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Vassal of France. edit

Will someone get this page protected so that people will stop deleting the French Vassalage from the status box. They claim France didn't exist until the 11th century, but it did. As stated in the article on France. the Kingdom of France formed when Francia was divided by the Treaty of Verdun. West Francia is the first stage of the Kingdom of France. First of all, I urge you not to edit war. Unfortunately your changes are not shedding more light, but all your periodization is just adding confusion. The information needs to remain true to the facts, and your changes (periods) provide no help. The article is puzzling enough, since it attempts to articulate related but different historic realities. The vasselage, as you claim, is not to France, but Francia. If you have references, do add verifiability.
Aquitaine was not a duchy between 768 and until one or more centuries later. You might as well add that detailed information to help build a reliable article, and add another article for the Kingdom of Aquitaine, received ideas add nothing. France is not considered to exist before the Capetians, it remains a continuation of the Carolingian government, and the fact that the sons of Louis partitioned the empire does not mean that the partition remains an unaltered category either. It did happen in 843, but that does not mean the arrangement remained unaltered for ages. Iñaki LL (talk) 07:18, 13 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
Watch your behaviour! You have violated the 3 R rule. Iñaki LL (talk) 08:10, 13 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Don't blame me for that. I didn't create this article. Blame the creator! I just typed PART of the status box. Don't blame me for the mistake of others. The part I added was accurate. Toolen (talk) 01:42, 14 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

You did not add references for your periodization in the infobox. Do add them please, otherwise they will be challenged. There are very different periods involved for what you call "vasselage to France", namely, the end of the Frankish Carolingian period and the start of the Capetian dynasty (considered the initial nucleus of France). Well? Still waiting. You did not take action as recommended, and your periodization on the infobox is hardly tenable (Auzias, Archibald Lewis, two major historians on this medieval territory don't support your claim). Following them, I even doubt that there is any Duchy of Aquitaine after 769 or 781 until the 10th or 11th century, apart from claims to the title. Should you have put your claims on the text body I may have added a verifiability tag on it, but no point in maintaining them in the infobox, given your inaction.
By the way, I did not go into detail on the timing of our interventions in the history and talk page, but as it happens, I was writing here when you were writing so there was an edit conflict. I then replied, and next I went to the ANI, so do not tell things that are not. Iñaki LL (talk) 19:18, 15 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
