Planning of the lines edit
- March-May 1905: plans adopted for many lines including Manhattan Bridge, Lafayette Avenue, and Fourth Avenue
- April-October 1905: Brooklyn IRT redesigned with provisions for Manhattan Bridge, Lafayette Avenue, and Fourth Avenue
- 1907-1908: Fourth Avenue Line moved from Flatbush Avenue to Ashland Place to allow for non-IRT operation; junction included for Lafayette Avenue
- May 1908: Brooklyn IRT opens
- November 1909: ground broken for the Fourth Avenue/Manhattan Bridge Line in Flatbush Avenue Extension
- March 1911: possibly the first proposal to use the junction for the Brighton Line
