Hotels
editThe village has three hotels, one of them being The Loch Ness Lodge Hotel which has stood since 1740
- It does not seem right that only one hotel should be named. My knowledge of Drumnadrochit is not great but is that date correct? The Loch Ness Lodge Hotel is described in Pevsner as "mid-Victorian". The 1875 map is not very clear but it does not seem to show a hotel on the site. There is the Drumnadrochit Inn shown in 1875 on what I think is the site of the Drumnadrochit Hotel which was built in 1881 so presumably on the site of the earlier inn. The Loch Ness Lodge Hotel does not seem to be shown in 1905 either, it is marked as a bank. --jmb (talk) 22:57, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- I note the 1740 date is on their website but was it just a building incorporated into the hotel rather than a hotel/inn since 1740 which is what is implied. --jmb (talk) 22:59, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- Nothing shown on the Roy 1747-55 map --jmb (talk) 16:03, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the legwork, jmb: I didn't know about that resource... I'm sure it could be claimed that is "too low resolution" to be definitive for /all/ buildings, but combined with your notes above I've changed that to "reputed" for the time being. Regards, David. Pronunciation of the name
editThe pronunciation of the name of the village should be included in the article, as it is for many other places whose names may not be easily determined from the spelling. 69.42.17.116 (talk) 00:09, 4 June 2016 (UTC)
