A remake?

The article says there is going to be a remake of this film, but there is no citation. It's not listed at imdb, and I can't find anything with google, so I added the fact tag. If it's not cited within a month, I'll delete it from the article. Grundle2600 (talk) 01:14, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

There is an article in Reuters from 4-28-09 stating that Russell Brand is in talks to play the lead roll of the remake... ThisIsNotVenice (talk) 18:41, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

The article has since been edited to include a reliable reference. magnius (talk) 20:18, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Yes, that's great. On a similar note, I restored the claim about it have a cult following, because now there is a source for that statement. Grundle2600 (talk) 15:28, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Conflicts

It seems as if the beginning paragraph's reference to the movie being "well-received" contradicts the paragraph in the "Reception" heading, which is probably the more realistic one. I can't fix it, but can someone else? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.242.90.11 (talk) 22:21, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Done. I've removed a few unsubstantiated statements and tied its "well-received" side to relative box office returns, in the context of an independent film in the US market. Mrstonky (talk) 13:58, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
It was certainly not well received by major critics - they hated it. Its box office intake, compared to other movies, was quite poor. What does make the movie well received is its sizable cult following, as well as some of the minor critics who have praised it. Grundle2600 (talk) 15:17, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

"Magabitch" vs "megawitch."

I see from the edit history, there's debate over which term was used in the movie. Actually, both terms are used in the movie. Grundle2600 (talk) 03:27, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

At some point the remake article will have to be unmerged.

Drop Dead Fred (2011 film) was started as a stub, but later merged and redirected to this article. At some point, it will have to be unmerged. Grundle2600 (talk) 01:38, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

I have unmerged the article. Grundle2600 (talk) 21:36, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Original Story

Can anyone find any information on the original story, or its author Elizabeth Livingston? I'm curious to know what sort of effect the casting of Rik Mayall had on the source material and whether anything more substantial has been written in the Drop Dead Fred universe.
