Confusion between different meanings of "drop"

When I look at the article and the revision history there seems to be some confusion between different meanings of the word "drop". One is the DJ term which the first paragraphs of the article try to describe, the other one is the contemporary pop music term where it simply means "non-vocal chorus". There are certainly pop drops that are DJ drops, but there are also lots of pop drops that do not fit the DJ definition. Merge proposal

I'd like to propose that Pop-drop be merged to Drop (music), since pop-drop is a variant of drop which is used by musicians in pop tracks. I noticed that there is a small mention of the term "pop-drop" in the genre section of Drop. Since the topic has garnered independent coverage, it could well be merged to that section without a standalone article. --Ashleyyoursmile! 11:22, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

This article conflates "bass drop" (bass register glissandi) with "the drop" (EDM structural element).

I would propose creating a separate article for "bass drop." The main issue is that the structural element in EDM tracks - the textural change of bass and/or drum introduction after a break and/or build-up - is _different_ from a "bass drop," which is a descending glissandi (and/or descending filter sweep) in the bass register. Confusingly, many EDM tracks employ a "bass drop," the sound effect, at "the drop." However, they are not synonymous. At different points during the current article, different contributors seem to be talking about one or the other idea. Phembree (talk) 17:57, 4 February 2022 (UTC)

Phembree, my suggestion would be to rewrite portions of the article to clarify the difference.
