Reviewer Comment edit

There was a redirect from Downball to Four square. However, the article on Four square does not appear to refer to downball, and this article states that downball and four square are different games. I am accepting this article. Any further disambiguation can be made in the two articles. Robert McClenon (talk) 04:27, 25 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

The original version of this article was about the similar Australian schoolyard game aka handball. This content was merged to four square, but the merge did not stick. Per the hatnote on this article:
the content on the original topic is now covered in Handball (schoolyard game). The original talk page is archived at Talk:Downball/Archive 1. – wbm1058 (talk) 18:26, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Is there a conflict of interest? edit

@Belbury: Which of this article's contributors are suspected to have a conflict of interest? Jarble (talk) 19:03, 11 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

User:Nmck2024dba, who is currently the only contributor, having replaced the article text with a new version this month - one that gives the Downball Australia rules as the only rules, and writes about the work that Downball Australia were doing. I assume the "dba" is a reference to Downball Australia, although it's not clear whether they're writing as a fan or a representative. Belbury (talk) 10:48, 12 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Good morning, I can see that you are potentially outlining my actions as a perceived 'conflict of interest'. If you have any questions about my amendments, please let me know and I will answer them to the best of my abilities. Nmck2024dba (talk) 00:39, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Nmck2024dba: I'd just ask you to take a look at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and consider whether you need to disclose any conflict of interest with regards to Downball Australia. If you're here to promote the sport that's fine and we can work with you on that, the article certainly needed some work and it would be good to hear from an expert - it's just important that everybody knows where they stand. Hi ‘Belbury’.
Sorry for the delay in response.
To clarify, I am a member of the executive team at Downball Australia.
No one disputes the claims I have laid out in the article - it is all completely factual and Downball Australia is unequivocally recognised by the community as the preliminary body for the sport.
I note strongly that my edits do not advertise Downball Australia, but simply state the unified rules of the game and outline the history of the organisation.
I note that in many articles, this form of amendment is allowed - I.E. the ‘Basketball in Australia’ page has extensive details on the formation and ongoing operations of the National Basketball League (NBL).
Just to make it clear, Downball Australia is the only organisational body currently operating for this sport.
Are your conflict of interest claims in relation to the entire article or just the section about Downball Australia?
If you were to make it clear exactly which part of the article is deemed a COI, I can work with you to clarify and amend accordingly. Nmck2024dba (talk) 22:09, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
