Possible source edit
As the creator of this article, I have to admit that the sources I used 15 years ago just don't cut it. I have found a source that may pass muster as reliable, here. I'm off to bad, so I'll look for some more tomorrow. @Derek R Bullamore:, if you have the time, I would appreciate your opinion on using the new source for this article. - I had a quick look at the source you provided, which appears to be reliable enough. Having said that, there is nothing in that newspaper article that seems to support anything much beyond the first three sentences of the Wiki piece. I might also point out a bigger issue, in that is this outfit actually notable ? The newspaper makes the point, more than once, that they were virtually unknown outside the Carolinas. In short, if we are struggling to find sources to support most of the text, the outfit seems to have had/has limited localised appeal, and part of the article appears to rely on WP:OR, then we are struggling to justify its existence. Probably not what you wanted to hear, and purely my personal opinion; although I would back up some of my thoughts by referring back to those Wikipedia editing guidelines. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 11:03, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
- It's a good article, and is factually correct, as far as I can tell. I think that most Hot Nuts fans are unaware of their music's roots in R&B. A little surprised that there was no mention of one of their most repeated (by teenagers) songs, "Bang Bang Lulu". Prescottbush (talk) 03:39, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
- OK, I have found some other sources, which I have placed in the table below. There are four established newspapers in there, and a book with a section on the group that is just over a page long. I am also happy to see that three of the sources pre-date Wikipedia, so there is no danger of cytogenesis from this article.

Please remove the mention of Otis Day and the Knights edit
I've read The Real Animal House, by Chris Miller, who was one of the scriptwriters for the "Animal House" film. His Alpha Delta Phi fraternity did indeed book a lot of R&B bands that were on their way up, and two of them ended up in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. However, the Hot Nuts were not on his list. - One of the sources I just listed above states that Doug Clark believed that he and and his band were the models for Otis Day and the Knights, and we could mention Clark's belief in the article, but I don't think it is worth doing so. Donald Albury 13:38, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
