Wikipedia is not an autobiography edit

This page is written in a very inappropriate, advertizement-like tone. It refers to the subject in a familiar tone (first name) instead of describing her by last name, which is more appropriate for an encyclopedia. Furthermore, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not the location where one posts a curriculum vitae or shares the intimate details of one's life. We also do not use adjectives meant to impress readers, e.g. "overwhelming margin" and "staunch unionist" and we do not post how our lives' experiences have made us better and more qualified for public office. That is material for coffee shop discussions or a personal blog, not an encyclopedia. This article has absolutely no cites to back up its claims either. I have edited to clean this mini-autobiography up and tune it to WP policy.--76.217.56.146 (talk) 17:49, 29 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Significant editing since the above comment. Numerous reliable source citations added. Most of the advertizing-like content has been toned down. More recently (late 2014, early 2015) the article has experienced some deletions of multiple paragraphs of content, including deletions numerous reliable source references, by new, focussed editors. Should we retitle the article? edit

evidently she has changed her name (both privately and, to an extent, professionally), and is now going by Dorothy A. Brown Cook. Should we move this article to reflect this change? Or should we simply edit the article, but leave the title the same (her campaign logo and website for her mayoral bid have not added a "Cook" to her name. I would favor the latter, leaving the title as it is but editing the article to mention this name change SecretName101 (talk) 04:12, 25 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
