Early life

Who is he? Where is he from? Who are his family? His videos make it clear he is agnostic, what faith was he raised in? These are all things that appear in most biographies, and they should be here.

SEAL-like

Looks like either Don or someone close to him is editing again. The first time I came across this an IP editor had stolen the Don Shipley page from the Canadian Don Shipley, deleted it.

SEAL training, as in US Navy SEAL training is done by the US Navy. So, another word should qualify Don's training, this was originally SEAL-like. Maybe another qualifier would be clearer. Alrich44 (talk) 12:11, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

• The writing style is suspiciously like Shipley's, it includes little quirks of his writing that appear on his youtube channel and website, such as hyphenating descriptions of time (EG, "24 years" written as "24-years"). It also includes some quirks that are less particular to him but common among people who have spent a lot of time in the military, such as capitalising common nouns ("Booby Traps") This doesn't necessarily mean it's him (And in my completely subjective impression of the man, writing himself a Wikipedia article isn't something he would do), it could just as easily be someone cutting and pasting text from his website, especially since there are a few phrases that are quoted from it word for word. 110.32.154.34 (talk) 07:03, 23 November 2014 (UTC)

Not only does it look like Shipley's writing, it is his. The whole section on military service is directly copied from copyright material on his website Who owns Extreme SEAL. Either someone has plagiarised the site, or he has plagiarised himself. Marchino61 (talk) 01:16, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Dispute

I would dispute the use of Shipley's site as a reference to anything on Wikipedia, as such constitutes "original Research" which violates Wikipedia Policy. 24.182.207.10 (talk) 20:54, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

That's a losing dispute. It isn't being used to promote his site and it is used to flesh out the article. It clearly omits any claims about specific people and simply state that his website professionally produces videos on people they claim to be a fake seal. The language could be more neutral but nothing is inappropriate as it stands that would warrant the removal. To update on this, I am making an effort to find 3rd party sources to use where we can. When possible removing the site as a reference is our best bet for credibility. Youtube Channel Terminated

I just noticed on 2/23/2019 that his youtube channel now says: "This account has been terminated due to multiple or severe violations of YouTube's policy prohibiting content designed to harass, bully or threaten."Buds131. NPOV and source improvement review

This is an area that people feel strongly about. I highly value and respect the work Don does but I thought the article could use a more neutral and less crusading tone. I made several changes and anticipate that more may need made but they are probably minor. Does any one have an opinion on [[3]] and if the other version was better, keeping NPOV in mind. YW. I think it will be fairly obvious to a viewer that Don is legitimately calling out a bunch of fakers.
