I deleted most of this article, as it seems to be an exact copy of http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/NATIONAL-WESTMINSTER-BANK-PLC-Company-History.html . Why did you restored it? --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 16:32, 6 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I restored it because it does not appear "to be an exact copy" of that page. Chrisieboy (talk) 17:37, 6 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Please read the material you want to revert, before you revert it. Even the first sentence I deleted is identical to the source above:
“The District Bank was first established in 1829 in Manchester as the Manchester and Liverpool District Banking Company, with a starting nominal capital of £3 million.”
Please read WP:COPYRIGHT again. We can avoid edit wars if we only restore material that is likely to be uncontroversial.

New Entry

edit

The article on the District Bank history seems very sparse and distinguished only by a dispute between two editors.

I am prepared to contribute a longer entry but prefer not to be involved in old editing arguments. The RBS archive is a good source and one could argue for nothing more than a link to their page. However, I am always nervous of internet links which can always be withdrawn.

It does seem that by using "Manchester Banks...", Mottram, and Reed's short history of NatWest an article with hard copy sources can be written, supplemented by the RBS site.

Any thoughts or objections?
