Tone

edit

The discrimination section of the article needs a more neutral tone. It seems as if there is a "call to action" occurring, specifically in the last few sentences. Vmc24 (talk) 22:34, 12 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Vmc24 I found and removed two "conclusion/recommendation" sentences which I think goes some way to improving the article. I agree the tone could be better. My rule of thumb for improving encyclopedic tone is "kill all the adjectives" - keep only those you can justify. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:59, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Sources

edit

Source 7 comes from a book and is particularly difficult to access. It is not free to access the book, so it may not be a great source for the article.Vmc24 (talk) 22:38, 12 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Vmc24 A PDF copy of the chapter is available at https://www.academia.edu/9413481/Choosing_agency_in_the_midst_of_vulnerability_Using_critical_disability_theory_to_examine_a_disaster_narrative -- Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:57, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

The Grenfell Tower Inquiry produced some good sources

edit

Hi Vmc24 Jwendt22 Arcy3000 Kcleary217 Take a look at these news articles:

  • Booth, Robert (6 May 2021). "Grenfell landlord 'did not create escape plans for disabled residents' | Grenfell Tower inquiry | The Guardian". The Guardian. Retrieved 10 April 2022.
  • "Grenfell Tower fire is 'a landmark act of discrimination against disabled and vulnerable people' | Disability Rights UK". www.disabilityrightsuk.org. 22 April 2021. Retrieved 10 April 2022.
  • Apps, Peter (8 September 2021). "Failure to identify disabled Grenfell Tower residents before fire 'not acceptable', inquiry hears". Inside Housing. Retrieved 10 April 2022.
  • "Disabled Grenfell residents 'had no escape route'". BBC News. 20 April 2021. Retrieved 10 April 2022.

I think they could be used to improve this article. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 06:14, 10 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Newbie Wikipedian

edit

Hello! I just made my first ever Wikipedia edit here for the Fall 2023 #CiteNLM. I added the PAHO source (https://www.paho.org/en/news/6-12-2018-disability-inclusion-hospital-disaster-risk-management-ingrid-h). I am pretty sure this is a Wikipedia-approved source and that I added the information correctly. However, if you notice any issues with it, I am really open to feedback!
