delete? edit

This article doesn't need it's own page. It is one of a thousand forms of phosphatidylcholine and not sufficiently different to warrant special mention. Anyone object if I tag for deletion? Roadnottaken 13:58, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, according to the article itself dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine is "the major constituent of pulmonary surfactant". I'd say that's an assertion of significance :) Fvasconcellos (t·c) 14:43, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I just saw that it's been suggested that this page becomes merged with Colfosceril palmitate. I highly disagree, DPPC consists around 36% of pulmonary surfactant in mammals and there is extensive literature about it's use as a model pulmonary surfactant. Surface scientists have learned a lot by studying DPPC so I think it should be a stand alone page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.12.190.93 (talk) 22:51, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Inaccurate chemical structure images edit

Both File:Acurate 3D representation of DPPC.gif and File:3D dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine.gif are inaccurate representations of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine. These structures incorrectly show all the non-hydrogen atoms occupying a single plane. The phosphate groups and the quaternary ammonium groups, for example, should have tetrahedral geometry. -- Ed (Edgar181) 18:46, 26 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
