Dihomo-gamma-linolenic acidDihomo-γ-linolenic acid – In accordance to the IUPAC nomenclature the title need to be Dihomo-γ-linolenic acid, but this name is in the title blacklist. Daniele Pugliesi (talk) 22:09, 7 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • comment we're supposed to avoid Greek letters in titles on Wikipedia. (though if a Rock Band uses it, someone might think it was more acceptable?) -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 04:59, 8 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. I agree that "dihomo-γ-linolenic acid" is more appropriate chemical nomenclature and that is what is used throughout the article. I don't know of any policy that forbids the use of Greek letters in titles - there are plenty of chemistry articles that use them. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:15, 8 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • comment MOS does advice against the use of special characters as it can made the page difficult to search for.Project Osprey (talk) 13:25, 8 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
As far as I can tell, the MOS doesn't advise against it in situations like this, but rather just notes the need for appropriate redirects. -- Ed (Edgar181) 18:25, 8 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Thats my only concern in this instance; it's not like it's actually a different name. Providing there's no issues with searchability I have no problems with the change. Project Osprey (talk) 12:53, 9 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

ToDo:
  • Initial discovery, characterization, synthesis (who , when, where)
  • There's actually very little to say about this chemical apart from gamma-Linolenic acid. This will always be a short article.
  • Discussion of the elongation/saturation from GLA and on to Arachidonic acid
  • Space filling model would look nice.
