While I think the topic definitely deserves an article, I wonder whether "digital sum" is really the standard name for this operation? Casual googling seems to suggest that the digital sum of a number is more commonly taken to be the repeated digit sum, i.e. the decimal digital sum of 782 is computed by 7+8+2=17, 1+7=8 to be 8.
