I'm curious to know why the changes I made were removed. They are factual, and a link to an outside source was provided.

Maiden name edit

Hopefully her family puts out an obituary, because I can't find any records of her marriage to Ian Deans and therefore what her maiden name was. Though, I highly suspect it is Flaherty, as there was a "Diane Flaherty" who was the executive director of the Canadian Federation of Students in the early 1980s.[1] However, I'm not sure if this is proof enough to go in the article.-- Earl Andrew - talk 14:47, 15 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I found the same Diane Flaherty in a ProQuest search, but agree that it isn't airtight proof by itself as Diane isn't a rare enough first name to lock it in without other verification. Bearcat (talk) 15:08, 15 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Update: we can't use user-generated sourcing in Wikipedia articles, so this won't cut it and we'll have to look for something better, but according to this MyHeritage tree her maiden name was indeed Flaherty. Bearcat (talk) 15:59, 15 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
According to the CBC obituary, she led the Canadian Federation of Students in the early 1980s, which is pretty much the same as being executive director (also found a reference calling her an "executive officer"), no? I also can't find anyone else named Diane involved with them from any newspaper clippings. I'm fairly convinced at this point. -- Earl Andrew - talk 17:22, 15 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
