Gay Icon Project

In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Thank you very much. Philwelch 20:27, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Article needs work!

I dropped by this article a few days ago - made a couple of slight changes - but really as a net bio it's still pretty crap - lightweight and unbalanced.Linuxlad 10:14, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

'Significant acting ability' is shameless POV. Contributions/206.165.150.70 (talk) 09:07, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Really, really, really astonishingly awful writing: "Having converted to Roman Catholicism in spring 1973 following Alan Lake's release from a 12-month period in jail for affray,[clarification needed] at her funeral she was dressed wearing a gold lamé evening dress with cape, and a gold "dors" necklace, which she was wearing when she died." Feel free to fix this article's various issues, I'm sure it needs all the help it can get. Articles about movie stars from previous eras like this one usually attract a fair amount of well-meaning fans who write essays about their favorite stars instead of encyclopedia articles. Happy editing! Shearonink (talk) 13:44, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Request for references removed

I have removed [citation needed] from the following sentence

She was also willing to play repulsive characters in such films as The Amazing Mr. Blunden and Timon of Athens.

The problem is that it’s unclear quite what fact(s) the anonymous editor who added it wanted citations for. (There was no edit summary.) She is listed as appearing in both (the latter actually made for TV) in her imdb entry, which we already reference in the article.

Naturally I would be quite happy for the template to be restored along with an explanation of exactly what needs to be sourced. —Ian Spackman 06:00, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Later life

Although she wasn't in the public eye in the years before her death, she did make two memorable appearances, int the Two Ronnies serial "The Worm the Turned" and in the video for Adam Ant's "Stand and Deliver". If someone wants to write these up, feel free. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.79.106.146 (talk) 21:29, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

I recall her doing game shows too, though I can't remember which one(s). 78.151.112.90 (talk) 10:59, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Celebrity Squares was the show that she was a regular panellist on. Best name (talk) 06:16, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

She also did a dieting segment on TV:AM. And it was the video for 'Prince Charming' she appeared in, not 'Stand and Deliver'. Contributions/206.165.150.70 (talk) 09:06, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Low credibility

In the "Diana Fluck" section, the story about the local vicar's verbal slip sounds as though it was fabricated by an unintelligent boor.Lestrade (talk) 04:46, 13 January 2010 (UTC)Lestrade

Sgt. Pepper

Globally, i would suggest she is most well known for apearing on the front cover of 'sgt. pepper'. Georgics (talk) 13:36, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

NPOV & "Moral clause"

I don't know much about Dors but after reading this biographical article, she sounds like such a tragic, sad figure. Surely, there must have been high points in her life, right? This profile really focuses on how she was exploited and her failures, it makes her career sound quite pathetic, like there wasn't much there beyond the manic tabloid coverage (which it sounds like she invited but was also victimized by).

My only criticism is the assertion that she lost her Hollywood contract because of "a moral clause" which I seriously doubt. First, divorce was incredibly common in Hollywood and I doubt it would raise an eyebrow. In fact, I was just working on a bio of a successful B-movie actor who was married 8 times and had 10 children from his various wives. Secondly, she didn't get a divorce, the Infobox says that her first marriage ended with her husband's death. So, either the Infobox is wrong or the claim that she got a divorce is incorrect. It sounds like her sex parties (if publicized) might trip a morals clause but I don't think these even happened in the U.S. and certainly conduct like this happened in California during the 1960s, too. The information is sourced, in that reference...from reading it it appears that she was "fired' because of her-then husband's poor behavior (beating a photog at a Hollywood party could do that I suppose...) so regardless of how we perceive the situation from our present-day vantage-point, a "morals clause" could have been used to fire an actor or actress if the moguls wanted to, IMO it seems to have been a convenient excuse because of Hamilton's behavior. "We don't like her anyway so we're invoking this particular clause in her contract" sort of thing... If you can find another reliable source for a different take on the situation, then of course it could/should be added. Cheers, Shearonink (talk) 00:35, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Problems in "Early Life"...?

The paragraph detailing her early life doesn't make sense. It suggests that her mother was uncertain who her (Diana's) father was, couching it along the lines of: "...her mother was unsure which of them was the father....". Unfortunately, only her mother's husband is cited as a possible father...no other potential father is mentioned. 82.3.148.90 (talk) 14:29, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

Yield to the Night

The 1956 film "Yield to the Night" was nominated for a Palm d'Or it is DD's most significant and acclaimed performance. To be fair to DD I think it merits a mention. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.35.234.98 (talk) 03:08, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
