editI searched (search engine) for the meaning of diamond symbols in Japanese streets, after seeing many of them in Google Street View. This Wikipedia article looked like it would answer the question since it started with how diamond symbols are used in two other countries, but fell short of my answer. A person who is good at encyclopedic entries could make this article better by adding this information: "Two white diamonds lined up vertically Pedestrian crossing ahead" per [1]
I checked a few of these diamonds on the streets of Japan, and they indeed come just before a pedestrian crossing. 97.84.112.193 (talk) 06:05, 24 January 2017 (UTC)
