Navy service
editBattle of Midway
editRemoved unreferenced content from article, "He fought in the Battle of Midway and ditched his Wildcat in the ocean because his carrier was damaged." The Battle of Midway was fought in June 1942, and Martin would have been 18 years old at the time, and thus unlikely to have been a naval aviator at that point in his navy service. According to other references, he was an enlisted sailor in November 1942 stationed at Naval Air Technical Training Center Norman, Oklahoma and was scheduled for pre-flight training in April 1943. POW
editRemoved unreferenced content from article, "He was shot down twice, the last time in 1945, where he was held as a prisoner of war until Japan's surrender." This content is removed until a reliable source is found. The source, Is That All There Is?: The Strange Life of Peggy Lee, pages 188–90 states he was "an ex-World War II fighter pilot", but nothing about Martin as a POW. Semper Fi! Date Of Death Incorrect
editDewey Martin passed away in San Pedro, CA., at my mother's house, in the arms of my son on 3/11/18 at 1:57pm. Not sure why this can't be corrected.
Also, The fact that Dewey was in the battle of Midway wand he was a POW has been edited out. He tickled me first hand he was in Midway and put his plan down. IU"m new to this stuff so if someone could please inform me why this information has either been edited out or not added I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. - Did you read the section above? What he told (or tickled?) you is not reliable. Clarityfiend (talk) 08:37, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
