General edit

Lead edit

  • " "Despacito" (English: "Slowly") is a single by Puerto Rican pop artist Luis Fonsi featuring reggaeton act Daddy Yankee ... " --> " "Despacito" (English: "Slowly") is a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and featuring vocals by Puerto Rican singer [or rapper, whichever] Daddy Yankee. The song was written by Fonsi and Erika Ender, and was produced by Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengifo" for Fonsi's upcoming studio album. Lyrically, the song is about having a sexual relationship but performed in a smooth and romantic way. [Insert more information about the composition of the song, like genres]. Fonsi and Daddy Yankee previously collaborated on the 2010 song "Una Oportunidad".

On January 13, 2017, Universal Music Latin released as single "Despacito" and its music video [insert a short plot for the video]."

  • From now the lead unduly focuses on the chart success of the song. I highly recommend you to mention the most important achievements alone, and instead of listing all those countries, simply say "the song topped the charts of Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay, and US Billboard Hot Latin Songs, and it reached the top [either 5 or 10] of [insert the number of countries]."
  • After listing the achievements of the single, finish with "Its music video broke five Vevo records for most views on the first day and the fastest Spanish-language music video to reach 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 million views."
  • "On 17 March 2017" -> On March 17, 2017. Dates have to be consistent throughout the article.

Background and release edit

  • ...worked together on "Una Oportunidad", released in 2010, planned to be included on the album Mundial, but it was later suppressed." -> "worked together on "Una Oportunidad", released in 2010 [in which format? Otherwise omit "release"], and it was planned to be included on Daddy Yankee's album Mundial, but it was later suppressed."
  • "...and that will make people just dance" and wrote simple lyrics instead of metaphors. > always include a citation after a quote, per WP:BLP.
  • "as a cumbia pop track but whose lyrics were written as a ballad" -> "as a cumbia and pop track, but whose lyrics were written as a ballad.[source]"
  • "presented him the demo." -> link Demo (music), and include a source
  • "Luis Fonsi said that he does not consider it a reggaeton song but feels that it does have a reggaeton energy and an subtle urban beat" -> "Fonsi does not label "Despacito" as a reggaeton song ["but (he) feels that it does have a reggaeton energy and an subtle urban beat" is almost copied from the source, so reword it or quote it]".[source]
  • "for digital download on 13 January 2017" -> mdy dates
  • "...Vente Pa' Ca" and Shakira's..." -> ...Vente Pa' Ca", and Shakira's...
  • The source says "Ricky Martin, Shakira, Thalía, Marc Anthony, Enrique Iglesias son algunos de ellos." However, it does not list the songs you mentioned in the article.

Composition edit

  • "a reggaeton-pop song[8][7]" -> exclude iTunes source. Also, the infobox does not reflect what the article body says. The rest of the section is unsourced and incomplete. Musical instruments, and the information about the lyrics from "Background" are to be added here because they are not background.

Reception edit

  • Critical response section missing
  • "Cover versions" is supposed to be prose text, not a list
  • "Compilation albums inclusions" needs sources in-prose, and the table with the album charts is irrelevant to the article

Personnel edit

  • Unsourced

Chart succession edit

  • Unsourced

Discussion edit

I'm going to stop reviewing it for now, as these sections are the most problematic. I'll continue reviewing what I'm missing later. © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 03:40, 12 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'm going to stop reviewing and "quick"-fail the GA nomination, for two reasons. First, although the nominator still active, and has edited the article since then, no single edit related to the GAN has been done. My first impression was to quick-fail it, but I decided to give it a try, however nothing important has been done. Second, the article is really unneutral, mainly because of the Commercial reception subsection. That subsection alone is 2800 characters long, while other more important sections are short, unsourced or don't even exist. So, no, unless this article meets the GA criteria, it cannot be a GA. © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 20:48, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
