Death
editThe death of Derek Hammond-Stroud has been announced in the "Shropshire Star", local newspaper of the residential home where he died. Details cited to the newspaper will be input.Cloptonson (talk) 19:49, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for this info. Did the article say anything else? All the best! -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:41, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- The article reporting his death included four paragraphs of interview from "Fellow singer Jeffrey Benton..from Crudgington [Shropshire], who had known Mr Hammond-Stroud since 1973." Benton (and the rest of the article) mention detail of his career already recorded in the wiki article, calling singing at the Metropolitan (NY) "His greatest achievement", and he accounted for his move to Shropshire, adding "he had always liked Shropshire. This where he wanted to be." I have been unable to find the story on the Shropshire Star's news website. It may be of advantage to look for any obituary in an English national newspaper such as "The Times", "Daily Telegraph", "The Independent" or "The Guardian", although I appreciate subscription may be needed for some of their sites.Cloptonson (talk) 17:32, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. Does the Shropshire Star give the name of the author of the article? -- Ssilvers (talk) 19:02, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- The reporter is not named. Most news articles in that paper carry no name unless they are special features by reporters who encourage contact online.Cloptonson (talk) 20:42, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

He's really not all that notable as opera singers go. There is still a lot missing from this bio. It's definitely just a start. |
