EMC CorporationDell EMC – EMC became a subsidiary of Dell Technologes. In part of this corporate restructuring, EMC has been renamed Dell EMC so the article title must match up with this. Thunderbolt.wiki (talk) 05:12, 9 September 2016 (UTC)

  • Comment – Yes, EMC Corporation has become a subsidiary of Dell Technologies. The thing is, what is the company's legal name, and is the the legal name also the common name? The Domain name is www.emc.com, with www.dellemc.com (listed in the infobox of the article) redirecting to that. So is the company wanting to be simply known as EMC? If you scroll down to the page footer of the website, it says "(c) 2016 EMC Corporation" so the name of the company could still be EMC Corporation. If you go to the "contact us" page of the website, it states "EMC Corporation" in the address and states "Email EMC". A recent article published by Forbes states in the headline "A Very Short History Of EMC Corporation" and in the article body, it refers to the company as simply "EMC". This article by Times of India says "Dell completes $67 billion acquisition of EMC Corporation" in the headline and states that "The new company–Dell Technologies–will comprise Dell, Dell EMC, Pivotal, RSA, SecureWorks, Virtustream and VMware." The company's Facebook page uses "Dell EMC". From what I am seeing, briefly, I assume that "Dell EMC" is just a marketing brand while "EMC Corporation" or "EMC" is the legal name. Again, I am just making an assumption. So, personally, I am Neutral on this request move (at this time). The page name should reflect what the common name is for the company, whether legal or not. This situation reminds me of Comcast Cable being referred to as its brand name, Xfinity. CookieMonster755 𝚨-𝛀 23:25, 10 September 2016 (UTC)
    • Support – now that I have done more research, the official and common name is now Dell EMC. CookieMonster755 𝚨-𝛀 18:21, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
  • Comment – The legal name and common name has been changed to Dell EMC. Unlike Xfinity where it is just a branding, but the legal name is still Comcast cable, EMC Corporation merged with Dell and Dell EMC is actually a newly formed subsidiary of Dell technologies a newly created holding company for both the new Dell EMC and for Dell, their personal computer brand. Therefore the page must be moved to the name Dell EMC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thunderbolt.wiki (talkcontribs) 05:33, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
