Name the famous painting edit
Parson's portrait of Jesus is well known among Mormons, but I've had some difficulty determining its correct name. I would like to know what Parson calls it, but I can't find any sources that use quotes. It isn't on his website gallery, but in reference to a newer painting he referred to it as:
- "the Red Robe painting" and
- "The Lord Jesus Christ"
Earlier today I changed this article to remove these references:
- "Christ in a Red Robe" (This is the name of a painting by Minerva Teichert.)
- "Christ and the Red Robe" (I can find no references with this name.)
I replaced them with the title Christ in the Red Robe, because it was already in use in this article and was the name used in a 2008 article where Parson was interviewed. It also happens to be the name for the picture on the Deseret Book website in Japan.
However, recently I have seen better sources refer to it as Christ in Red Robe (without "the"), such as Deseret Book's website (the official English site), a literary blogger, the LDS retailer Seagull Book, BYU's 100 Hour Board (a quasi-fact-checking website), and some other retailers. I will change the article to reflect this name (Christ in Red Robe).

- I just discovered the LDS Church Distribution website calls it "Jesus the Christ" (I hope that link works for everybody). Surely the church owns the rights to it and controls its usage and marketing. At this point I believe it has 3 names:
- Christ in Red Robe
- The Lord Jesus Christ
- Jesus the Christ

- I'm sure all the throngs who care to follow this obscure detail are interested in my latest update. The article on Del Parson from the April 2005 issue of Desert Saints Magazine calls the picture (p. 13) "The Lord, Jesus Christ ('the red robed Christ.')" It doesn't seem like the parenthetical name was intended to be read as the official name. So, should our earlier name of "The Lord Jesus Christ" have a comma in it? I don't know if I can trust this small, regional LDS magazine, especially since it says "This picture was chosen by the Brethren in Salt Lake City as the image that best represents what Christ looked like when he was on the earth" (p. 12).
