The use of the term "heathen" conotates to something other than the hopeful intended objectivity.

Replaced "heathen" with the more-neutral "pagan"207.140.171.5 17:16, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

LDS Church edit

This article is missing information about the LDS Church's unusual practice of dedicating not only places of worship (meetinghouses, tabernacles, & temples) but also essentially every building that the church owns (or has owned in the past), including administrative offices, visitor centers/historic buildings, and even LDS Hospital/Primary Children's Hospital. Additionally there is the practices among the members of that church as well of dedicating their own homes. I do not know if these practices extend to the other denominations in the Latter Day Saint movement, but if so, & wp:RS can be found, than these should be included too. -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 18:07, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Question about the first sentence edit

Is Dedication the FACT of consecrating, or is Dedication the ACT of consecrating? Very respectfully, Tiyang (talk) 04:24, 17 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Secular dedications? Distinction between consecrating fully owned churches and dedicating mortgaged ones? edit

Either this article (which does briefly mention non-religious dedications in the intro) or another article should discuss secular dedications. I think doing so in this article would be the best, because then we could compare & contrast the concepts and perhaps also give a history of both.

Also, Consecration#Churches.2C_altars.2C_and_other_ritual_objects mentions a distinction between consecrating church-owned buildings and dedicating buildings that are still mortgaged. This distinction and its reasons, if correct, should be brought out as early as the intro in this article, but I did not bring that text over because it was unreferenced.

This is more than I can do, however, and I probably won't be able to follow-up. Sorry all that I can do is make these suggestions! Thanks in advance for your help, --Geekdiva (talk) 20:03, 26 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
